Sometimes we forget to stop and just enjoy the beauty that life has to offer, simply take it in; breathe the air and feel the world alive around us.
These are some of my favorite pictures I’ve ever taken, and I apologize if they don’t look quite as well blown up on a computer as opposed to the Galaxy S6 I took them with! I took these all from the top of McAfee knob just outside of Roanoke, VA. It’s a pretty difficult hike, especially for someone as out of shape as I was at the time, but it is one of the most spectacular things I’ve ever seen. McAfee knob is apart of the Appalachian Trail and is known to be one of, if not the most photographed locations throughout the 2,181 mile trek.
The Knob offers a nearly 270 degree panoramic view from which you can see the Catawba Valley 3,400 feet below, a North Mountain to the West, Tinker Cliffs to the North and the Roanoke Valley to the East.
I often think back to this day; a reminder of how beautiful life can be and how small I am in the grand scheme of things. After the sheer physical exhaustion of climbing the mountain and then walking out onto the bluff, the pinnacle of the entire hike; It was breathtaking. A day I will never forget.
